Policies

Please Note

Due to ethical and legal conflicts of interest (and my own physical limitations), as an end of life doula I need to be clear that I am not a cleaner, on-call nurse, allied health professional, counsellor, medical/health professional.

My training allows me to walk with you through your grief and to give you options to the appropriate professionals that are best able to assist you.

Presenting you with options gives you the benefit of making your own informed decisions based on your situation and what you feel is best for you. Doula work is all about your choices and your dignity. That is what’s most important to me.

Ethically, I absolutely cannot:

  • Be an executor of your will
  • Be a beneficiary of your will

My services are to be paid for as agreed in advance and never to be added as a part of your will.

Please take some time to read the policies below and feel free to drop me an enquiry if you have any questions that aren’t answered here or on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

Confidentiality

Your trust, comfort and confidentiality is paramount to me, so please keep in mind that any experiences or information you share with me will never be shared with anyone else inclusive of your own family members or loved ones that you identify that you wish to not share with. This is especially the case for any members of the LGBTQIA+ community who have preferences around disclosure of medical status, gender, sexuality or any other sensitive information.

This could also apply to people who have more complex family dynamics. I will always endeavour to facilitate a space for you to feel as safe and supported as possible.

Your information and experiences are always yours alone unless you explicitly say that you want me to share them for legacy or educational purposes or if you find difficulty telling your loved ones any particular information.

Booking Your Sessions

Sessions are generally booked in blocks of one to two hours or an entire day if you need me to prepare and coordinate living wakes or planned visitations. For urgent situations, I will provide my number for you to text or call.

Cancellation or Rescheduling Sessions

Please note that you’ll need to cancel or reschedule sessions 12 hours before your scheduled session or this may lead to you forfeiting an hour of the session.

Depending on the situation I do handle rescheduling with as much compassion as possible as I understand serious illness and circumstances sometimes cannot be helped.

Communication is key with this so please keep me in the loop of why you need to cancel so I can help you.

Human Only Approach

I personally believe that end of life care work should be carried out by humans for humans. As there is a growing concern for confidentiality, accuracy, the integrity of artists, photographers, and other creatives that generative AI scrapes data from, I will never use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to record or produce any of my doula, legacy or keepsakes work.

All my designs and words are created and written by me, all your words remain yours.

Content Terms of Use

All content created by me on here (i.e. keepsakes designs, blogs, infographics, videos, photography that is noted as my own, etc.) are my intellectual property. The heart of what I do is connect and educate.

If you wish to share any of my intellectual property for public educational purposes, you are welcome to but attribution is required. Please credit my website (kindredspiritsmemorials.com) and one of my social media outlets (Instagram or Facebook).

This content I share on here is not to be used for commercial use for any paid courses or gatekept from the public. Doing so will infringe on these terms of use as outlined here and my legal team will be in touch.
